strategy & implementation manager, DROWNING PREVENTION AUCKLAND

Our client, Drowning Prevention Auckland (DPA) is seeking an experienced and skilled Strategy & Implementation Manager to join their Senior Leadership Team in a full-time, fixed-term (three years) capacity.  This is an exciting and influential role for anyone passionate about leading Wai Ora Tāmaki Makaurau – Auckland’s Water Safety and Drowning Prevention Strategy.    

The mission of Wai Ora Tamaki Makaurau is: 

Ka kotahi mai a Tāmaki Makaurau i āna mahi ki te whakatō i te ngākau whakaute ki te wai, me te whakaaweawe i te pūmautanga o ngā tikanga me ngā whanonga e te katoa hei ārai atu i ngā tūroro ā-wai, toremitanga hoki.

Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland, works collectively to instil respect for the water and encourage safe Tikanga and behaviours by all people to prevent water-related injuries and preventable drowning.

This role is pivotal for the water safety sector across Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. DPA was formed with a vision of Tāmaki Makaurau being free from drowning, which they are aiming to achieve through drowning prevention education, advocacy and research.  The Strategy & Implementation Manager will be accountable for leading the implementation of Wai Ora Tāmaki Makaurau, which will build on DPA’s own strategic direction. It will include the collective and collaborative vision of multiple agencies committed to reducing drowning deaths and injuries and building a culture of safe enjoyment around water in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland.

The ideal person for this role is someone who has an appetite to drive strategic direction and meet implementation targets. The key accountabilities for this role are focused on:

  • Relationship management: To work alongside local and national partners and providers, regional funders, stakeholders and user groups (including Māori, Pasifika and multi-ethnic communities) to enable partnership and collaboration to implement the strategy;
  • Strategic Implementation: Ensuring the achievement of strategic outcomes and measures as developed by the sector;
  • Strategy Coordination and Iteration: Ensuring the sector remains engaged and the strategy evolves as it needs to achieve collective aspirations. 

An established and structured framework will track and measure the deliverable outputs required of this role. DPA requires someone who can plan efficiently, meet deadlines and remain accountable to a project.

Are you the person that we are looking for? In addition to the above, you will be a skilled strategic manager with an exceptional commitment to cultural awareness with an understanding of New Zealand’s water safety sector.

You will be a stellar relationship builder with a proven ability to develop networks and demonstrate leadership. You will understand regional/national funding criteria and frameworks as well as local government processes. A full driver’s license is also needed.

You will also be highly desirable by having facilitation and mediation skills & are competent with Tikanga & Te Reo Māori.

Additionally, you will:

  • Be experienced in project or business development experience;
  • Have a proven history in developing and implementing strategy with multiple stakeholders;
  • Be experienced in delivering business case experience and funding applications.

Our client, Active Engineering and Acti Bush, are joint, family-owned engineering (& parts) companies and are looking for an organised and enthusiastic Finance & Accounts Officer to join their team. This is a permanent, full-time position based in Rosedale, North Shore. 

Are you the person for this role? This role would suit an experienced Finance/Accounts Officer who is driven to take on key responsibilities within the Accounts & Finance functions. You will have previous experience in Accounts & Financial Management (payroll, accounts receivable/payable, PAYE and GST). AQUATIC EDUCATOR, DROWNING PREVENTION AUCKLAND

Are you an experienced schoolteacher looking for a new challenge in water safety and drowning prevention education? This is an opportunity to step into a role that contributes to keeping New Zealanders safer in, on and around the water. 

Our client, Drowning Prevention Auckland (DPA) is looking for a full-time Aquatic Educator with an aptitude for all water environments or/and water-based teaching experience, who can apply their organisation and leadership skills to deliver drowning prevention programmes across the education sector (ECE, Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary). 

Central to this role is the implementation of Professional Learning and Development (PLD) for school teachers. The successful candidate will be well equipped to maintain and develop strong networks with primary and secondary schools in order to deliver.

Formed in 1994, Drowning Prevention Auckland (DPA) is a charitable organisation with a mission/Whakatakanga to prevent drowning through education, research, and advocacy. Recognised as a leading agency for drowning prevention education, DPA’s suite of educational programmes continue to meet the needs of at risk and hard to reach water-users, encouraging safer behaviours in, on and around the water.

The ideal person for this role is someone who has a passion for water safety and education with qualifications in teaching and a strong interest and knowledge of water safety. The key accountabilities for this role are focused on: 

  • Promoting and teaching drowning prevention education across DPA programmes as a member of the Education team.
  • Leading the implementation of Professional Learning and Development for teachers in the education sector, in particular secondary schools, to enable the roll out of aquatic education to students.
  • Developing and maintaining strong networks with our clients, key stakeholders and other organisations that support drowning prevention education.
  • Undertaking programme design, improvements, planning, and preparation based on delivery evaluations and research.
  • Implementing DPA Health and Safety protocols and procedures as part of all programme delivery.
  • In addition, the successful candidate will be eager and flexible to support DPA’s other channels of engagement with our Open Water, Community, and Events teams.

Applicants will need:

  • Considerable experience across a range of water environments with a high level of competence in both pool and open water.
  • NZ Teacher Registration – Minimum qualification for this role is Teacher Registration (Teaching Council Aotearoa New Zealand), ideally with a current Practising Certificate. 
  • Hold a current workplace first-aid certificate.
  • Hold a current and full NZ Drivers’ Licence. 

You will also have cultural awareness with a commitment to grow and develop in this area.  You may also need to be available to travel out of Auckland occasionally for regional/national programmes.

Preference may also be given to those with: 

  • Adult Teaching Certification Level 3 or 4 and/or experience. 
  • Secondary school level teaching experience and networks.
  • Qualifications and/or experience in health and safety, and risk assessment and management.
  • Other recent personal and professional development and training, e.g., teaching and learning, educational leadership, sport/recreation, community service, health and safety, injury prevention, cultural competency.
  • Recent experience in aquatic environments, aquatic safety teaching experience, or aquatic recreation.

DISPATCH ASSISTANT, ABSOLUTE ESSENTIAL

Our client, Absolute Essential, based in Auckland’s beautiful Muriwai, is a manufacturer of health and skincare products using the world’s finest essential oils.  Their vision is to make a positive and permanent difference in people’s lives.

Absolute Essential is a company committed to ensuring that they have the most efficient production, manufacturing, dispatch and customer service systems in place.  Their commitment to consistent efficiency has led to this opportunity for a Dispatch Assistant.  The role is set for 30 hours, Monday to Friday (ideally 9 am to 3 pm).  The view would be for this role to start in the new year; however, hours may be available leading up to the holiday season.  This role will be remunerated on the living wage (+/Dependent on skill-set). 

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the key responsibilities for this role are to:

  • Ensure daily dispatch of products;
  • Ensure that orders are processed efficiently and effectively;
  • Complete some administrative and manufacturing tasks as required;
  • Ensure that duties are undertaken in a clean and orderly way at all times;
  • Help with any other tasks that might help the team.

CNC MACHINE/EDGEBANDING OPERATOR, SILVERDALE KITCHENS

Our client, Silverdale Kitchens, a well-respected kitchen-design company, based in Silverdale, Rodney, is looking for a CNC Machine/Edge-banding Operator to join their team on a full-time permanent basis. The role will be responsible for working with the latest machinery and will need someone with good experience working with new CNC & edgebanding technologies. Hours are 7 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime and weekend work required. 

SKL is excellent at what they do: the design, manufacturing & installation of tailor-made cabinetry (kitchens, bathroom vanities & laundries).  They are looking for someone equally excellent to join their busy & fast-paced team.  This role requires someone who can learn quickly, work in a fast-paced environment, and pitch in with anything that needs to be done to help the team.  Being a team player with strong communication skills is a must.

Key responsibilities for this role are to manage the CNC Machine and Edgebanding operation, carry out other tasks as instructed to ensure the efficient and productive running of the workshop/factory, undertake deliveries when required, ensure that the work area is clean, safe and orderly, and contribute to the quality of service.  The person in this role will also work closely with a small team of experienced designers, factory staff, installers & management.  

The ideal candidate must have the following key skills & qualities:

  • CNC Machine/Edgebanding experience with the latest technologies
  • In good health, & physically fit (& prepared to complete health screening)
  • An upbeat & positive personality
  • Great organisational skills
  • Trustworthy & reliable
  • The ability to problem solve & think outside the square
  • A good command of written & verbal English
  • Excellent people skills & a good sense of humour
  • A clean NZ driver’s licence
  • NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa
  • The ability to work some weekends
